About its People

Costa Rican (ticos) are very friendly, gentle, polite, cheerful and kind people. They love tourists and they are very helpful. Ticos are partying people, lovers of music and dance. I have to say that they always find an excuse to get together with friends and celebrate. It is a fanatic country of soccer games. There is no more adrenaline in bars or streets than when their favorite soccer team wins a game.

Religion

More than 90% of Costa Ricans are Catholics. Holy Week (Easter) is a national holiday. It is a time for religious traditions and many families gather together to share their faith and time. During Holy Week most businesses, including banks are closed. Buses stop running on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. For some people Holy Week is a good time for vacations at the beach. Holy week is a wonderful opportunity to live part of their culture. Every town celebrates this week with procession; fairs, and parades. In most cases, peaceful bullfights (different from other countries as the bullfighter never kills the bull), and fireworks are part of the town celebration. La Fortuna is a great place to experiment with these religious traditions along with its beautiful nature.
